Bibliography cards help you to collect the citations for all of your sources. In the end, you may not end up using every one of these sources, but you will have them to refer to while fine-tuning your research paper. Each citation should have 1 card. The only exception is for the Taking Sides books. You will have three cards for each of them, which count as 2 cards. You can either buy cards at the store or in the library.
We will develop a working outline that will help to guide and focus the research process. While researching, this outline will interact with the notes and the notes will interact with the outline. The two will help to develop one another. The outline, while researching is not set in stone and will, no doubt, continuously shift and change. It is not until the paper is being written that the outline will be much more definitive.
Note-taking is when you get the meat for your paper. You will continue to develop your outline while researching and taking notes. Below you will find the note-taking form and two forms to help you understand its use. You are expected to use the note-taking form digitally. Therefore, there will be several print copies available to you. The sections are there for a reason; to help you thinking about the notes you take and use higher-order thinking skills prior to writing the paper. AND save you time at the end!
